A few years ago if you’d have recommended me a higher end product I would have rolled my eyes and made a point not too invest. I am as tight as you can get when it comes to spending my hard earned cash and there is no way I’d buy something without looking for a cheaper alternative first.
I think there comes a point in life when we stop and think, hang on, maybe there is a reason people splash out on some of the finer things in life.
I’ve seen so many posts from bloggers saying that high end hauls aren’t relatable, and influencers are “forgetting” where they came from etc, etc. I’ve also read some very engaging blog posts about how to make key investments when it comes to fashion, beauty, skincare.
How spending extra pounds doesn’t mean that they are posh, rich, living above their means and I’m starting to feel like they may be on to something.
Even now, being on a lower income due to freelancing and spending time looking after myself mentally I’m seeing the rewards from spending a little extra and I’m falling in love with some great pieces that I will be investing in once I get back to work full time.
Investing in brands can be rewarding.
I’ve made a conscious list of items that I want to buy this year. I feel like this may be a bit of a mish mash post but bare with me. I’m so over the quantity over quality when it comes to clothing and other items and realising that it’s time to invest in long lasting items.
As well as hair care, skincare, beauty and activewear, basically anything that I want to use long term, will be heavily researched to make sure I make the right decisions for me. This does not mean that I won’t be having a H&M splurge for the kids, I’ve still never purchased ANY kids clothes from Next or John Lewis and I will not spend £1000’s on items that don’t provide results. I’m not stupid by any means.
Good skincare can make a massive difference.
For years I’ve never had a proper skincare regime. It was quite a recent change when I stumbled into the Body Shop and decided to splurge on the much recommended tea tree range.
Surprisingly the results have been pretty good. My skin still breaks out but it’s not as sore, red or intense when it does. Investing a little extra has definitely paid off on this occasion.
I also had the chance to try out a Lancome product recently and it was dreamy so I’m going to try my hardest to save up and purchase that bad boy.
Why wouldn’t you invest in you?
That’s a very good question, one that I’ve started asking myself a lot more lately. Especially in an age where health, well being and self care are such a popular topic and dominant across the internet, social media and with influencers alike.
I suppose in a way it comes down to self-confidence too, I sat and thought about my favourite part of me, and the answer was my hair.
So when Color Wow hair kindly sent me some of their range to try I was ecstatic to say the least. I’d spent a lot of money on products recently with my hair change back to brunette as the past 12 months of bleaching and dying it blue has damaged my hair. Even if only a little.
Today’s hair fashion is all about colour and effects: ombres, sombres…. a rainbow of expressive shades. This massive new surge of colour use (and abuse) demands a whole new level of colour care technology. And that’s why we created Color Wow.
Their mission “To identify and solve every problem related to colour treated hair”.
Color Wow hair have a really extensive range for all kinds of hair issues, from the sulphate free shampoos that make my scalp feel cleaner then it has in years, conditioners and specially concocted leave in cocktails to replenish my hair and give it the ultimate shine even after all the damage it’s been subjected to.
For me, this has been a great way for me to see how spending a little more money on the things that mean the most to me when it comes to self-care.
I’ve got a little list of luxuries that I am saving to purchase that I can one day love and cherish just as much.
Is there something that you love and would always invest in regardless of cost? I’d love to know your thoughts on high end VS high street.
Post contains items gifted by Color Wow for an honest review.
