When I look back it’s quite clear that I always wanted to have fun. To travel, to see the world, to have epic adventures. It’s amazing how quickly things can change your life and as I turned 18 it became obvious that I would have to put those adventures on hold for a little while.
I instead embarked on a career and a family and whilst I love this and wouldn’t change it for the world, there is still that urge to go out and explore inside of me.
These days I am much more laid back and quite lucky that we can regularly go on little adventures and trips visiting historical sights and climbing up mountains. To be fair, I couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing and while it can be fun, at times it can be a struggle to know what to pack for the occasion.
I am however looking to take on more adventures in 2018, there’s nothing like a good old cliche resolution is there? My aim is just to get outside more, embrace the weather, have fun and to not look back at the past. I’ve spent enough time dwelling on things that have happened in my adult life.
For the first time in a long time, it doesn’t bother me. I know what I want to do, I know how I want to blog, I’m no longer bothered by the whole internet persona thing and I just want to have fun.
With two (sometimes) fussy kids, two dogs, my husband and I plus cameras, laptops and GoPros I was absolutely over the moon when Osprey Europe got in touch to see if I wanted to review one of their new backpacks. I mean have you seen them?
I can fit everything in it and more and it means that I can be confident that we have everything we need no matter what the situation. I’ve never been happier with anything in my life. Slight exaggeration.
The things we struggle with most are fuel, snacks and taking enough hydration to last our entire adventure. I think we may have finally cracked it though with the help of a couple of brands. These guys are definitely worth considering when you head on your next adventure.
Summit to Eat are a freeze dried adventure food brand based in the UK.
Summit To Eat offers truly satisfying meals to conquer the largest of appetites and are nutritionally balanced with natural ingredients to fuel any adventure.
They offer a great selection of meals that can be made and eaten quickly and conveniently whether you are on the side of an ancient ruin, camping at a weekend festival or sat on a ledge on the highest mountain you can find.
You can purchase breakfast, lunches and dinner through the website and their distributors so they’ve pretty much got you covered for any situation.
They can be prepared in four easy steps and contain all the details you need to fuel yourself and re-hydrate accordingly. Summit to Eat also have some great kits available on the website from vegetarian festival kits to fruit selections and even a cheese option too for those of you like me that love a bit of cheese every now and again.
Another great option for refuelling and adventure snacking is the Nutree Life vegan protein bars. This innovative company boasts lactose, gluten, wheat and soya free as well as being vegan and vegetarian friendly.
On their website they describe themselves as original, see below.
We’re original: we’re an innovative vegan health nutrition brand created through experience, passion and dedication. We only use natural ingredients.
They literally have a flavour for everyone from chocolate lovers to a more fruity combination you can grab a tasty snack that also ensures you are getting the right nutrition you need when working out, exploring or enjoying time outside with your family.
Nutree Life are the first brand of vegan friendly protein bars that I have tried since my love affair with the brownies I once had and I have to say they are a really good contender for a quick hit after the gym, during a long distance run or simply when you are out walking the dogs in the hills of the Cheshire countryside.
I’m really looking forward to 2018 and going on more adventures. Along with a new journey, direction and outlook on life, its the first time in a while that I can say I’m truly looking forward to what the future holds. And that’s without worrying too much about what’s going to happen as there’s no point stressing out over things you cannot control.
And with that, this is my last blog post of 2017 and I cannot wait to begin sharing new content after the festive period. What are you looking forward to most for the new year? Are you going on an adventure you’re excited about?
Enjoy your next adventure, whatever that may be.
