Hurrah! We’ve moved. I had got to the point where I never thought this day would arrive honestly. I’ve spent months mourning over the keys to the front door of my little dream house on the hill and it’s finally here. The dream is real and I could not be happier right now.
We’ve spent the past week moving our stuff in and slowly redecorating each room. The house needed everything doing. From the floorboards to the wallpaper removing to a whole house paint job which is still in progress goodbye beautiful nails. I am trying to embrace the DIY although it’s pretty clear that it just isn’t for me really.
I’ll be over the moon when I can finally sit down and we have floors, new walls and immaculate Instagram rooms available on tap. I thought I’d share a few things that have cheered me up this week other then getting handed our keys and how we’ve started to settle in and get organised again.
Initially we underestimated the state of the floors in the house. All the carpets had been ripped up and all of upstairs and the staircase are bare floorboards. Cue Pinterest searching for the perfect floorboard colour, a sander, a mop, primer and grey floor paint. After initially painting the kids room we decided to leave our floorboards white and have applied two lots of undercoat and primer ready for the final coat shortly.
I have always been a fan of the white walls and colourful trinkets look too. The Instagram/blogger interior favourite but after some discussion and Ben admitting that white walls reminds him of sterile rooms at the hospital/dentist we decided that we’d inject colour into the walls instead.
I went for a lovely grey/mauve colour for our bedroom walls, teamed with white brick style wallpaper and the white washed floorboards. I have to say I love it and once our new white furniture arrives it’ll look beautiful. The kids have a nice solid blue colour as they both love it. They have grey floorboards and cream blinds to add a little contrast and it also looks pretty good IMO.
We moved out of our last rented property at the end of April and have been staying between parents until this one popped up. This means that we haven’t had access to a fully working oven and it’s been a nightmare. We are a very foodie family so the idea of not being able to cook, experiment and have fun has been a struggle.
The wait is over and we have now purchased our very first oven. It’s definitely been put to good use in just a week. Roast dinners with tasty organic vegetables, like roast beetroot and freshly picked onions/potatoes kindly supplied by Nutritional Organic in one of their cool vegetable boxes.
No fads, no fashionable trends; just great organic foods delivered to match what your body needs.
You can find out more about Nuttie Organics and the Nutritional Organic Food Company on their website.
Ben also made us a really healthy curry with brown rice and quinoa with some of the delivered chilli peppers which was divine so I obviously had to share it with you guys too. Let me know if you want the recipe in the comments and I’ll send it over.
Now we’ve moved I can finally make plans for the future. My life is no longer on hold and I am super excited for what is ahead. As I mentioned on my Facebook Page a few days ago Fitcake has been doing really well lately and I’ve gained some amazing opportunities and features too so I’m definitely ready to push myself more as it’s paying off.
I’m still on the fence when it comes to my start up. I love dogs and want to incorporate that into my business, I have worked as a groomer for a while but my first love is my little Pug and wanting to create some bespoke accessories for smaller dogs. I’ll let you know how that gets on soon as things are still early days there.
Hope you enjoyed my little catch up. Over the weekend my collab with Flare Clothing post should go live so keep an eye out for that. Loved the photo shoot for that one, it was so FUN.
Edit: How hard is moving home!? I’m going to put together a post at some point soon with some tips etc so feel free to leave yours in the comments with your blog links and I’ll include them in the post too!
