It’s been a long time since I talked about skincare. I used to talk about it a lot on my old blog many moons ago. I suffer with terrible eczema and dry skin and try pretty much anything that promises to cure me of this problem. Trouble is, there isn’t really anything that can “cure” it as such. More of a management of the symptoms and trial and error too.
I can go for months without any sign of dryness and then suddenly it’ll appear overnight everywhere. It’s a pain in the backside (sometimes literally) and I get sick of it so quickly. It manifests itself as spots, blisters, dry skin, weeping patches, flakiness, itchy scalp and scabs. It hurts, it itches and it drives me crazy. I have spent years using steroid creams, emollients, bandages even to try and stop myself from scratching. It’s hard.
At the wonderful age of 28 I think I may have found my three skincare saviours so wanted to share these as I think they are fabulous.
For some reason I am an avid sufferer of spots on my face. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of those “teenage spots” which is a shame really. I’ve found that my favourite skincare cream is actually one that is supposed to be for wrinkles. Okay I may have the odd grey hair (I blame the kids personally) but I’m 28, I definitely don’t have wrinkles just yet.
Eucerin Hyaluron Filler is definitely a firm favourite. I use it morning and night after washing, cleansing and sorted out my face. I love it, it dries really quick and really helps to smooth my skin out ready for make up application if needed. I’ve got the that point now where I can comfortably leave the house without any on so it’s great to throw on just for some glowy skin.
The Palmers Cocoa Butter has always been my favourite. I just adore the scent. Always have, always will. I started using this when pregnant with my first child 10 years ago (oh my god) and have used it on and off since then. It works great with stretchmarks, softens the skin and smells amazing. I found this hypoallergenic fragrance free one perfect to use when my eczema is flaring up as it doesn’t contain as many irritants as the usual.
This may seem a little strange but trust me, when you suffer with eczema even something as simple as finding a deodorant that doesn’t irritate your skin can seem like an impossible task. I’ve found that roll on ones agree with me more then the sprays so I’ve been sticking to good old Nivea pearl & beauty roll-on deodorant for some time. The bonus is, my husband won’t use it as he hates roll-ons. He always used to pinch sprays when he forgot to replace his (which seems like a lot). Either he is just really forgetful or he enjoys smelling like flowers? Who knows.
So those are my three skincare saviours of 2016/17 and hopefully I will discover more items that I can put a tick next too in the future.
What’s your favourite skincare product? I’d love to know!
