This post is written in collaboration with 361°.
Since beginning my journey on Fitcake in 2017, my aim was to create and inspire others to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. I feel that I have achieved that kind of content here and across social media. I do really enjoy writing and being able to share our family experiences. Especially when it comes to remaining active, recovering from illness and injury and encouraging the kids to put their games down.
When I made the decision to enter the marathon ballot for next year I had no idea where to begin. I hadn’t thought of clothing, shoes, running gear, times, a strategy, training plans. So it was more of a dream enter then anything planned with intent. I mean of course, I’d love to be able to be a part of it. I’ve since began the research, the training and joining supportive groups for advice.
When when the email came to say I’d be receiving the BRAND NEW 361° Sensation 3 trainers, I could not be more excited. I have to be honest I am a little bit of a trainer addict. Especially when it comes to funky, unusual, yet sturdy running shoes. I’ve had one pair of shoes since last year that I fell head over heels with so anything new is going to have some tough shoes to step into (pun intended).
361° was founded in 2003 in China. Fast becoming a firm favourite supplier to those in China they decided to internationalise their business and take on the global market. Becoming one of the main sponsors at the Rio Olympics in 2016 the goal was to deliver products that compete with the best in the market.
The 361° Sensation 3 shoes fit really well for me. I have quite wide feet which sometimes causes issues when it comes to trainer styles. These are comfortable, even when running longer distances or off road and on the trail which is perfect. I tend to switch between a treadmill, road and trail running quite frequently so I need something that can handle that.
They have some great features too like the breathable air mesh that I’m starting to fall in love with. The pressure free tongue which initially felt odd but I can see why it’s been done as sometimes the tongue can be irritating.
Powered by QU!K Foam the spine is a carbon fibre plate that is said to add integrity to the mid foot. The engineering also aids balance and enhances ground contact for better acceleration.
I’ve really enjoyed trialling the Sensation 3 trainers over the past month and have grown to really like them. Considering that I was hooked on my old ones, these are a pleasant surprise, plus the fact that they come in a range of fabulous out there colours helps too.
I did notice them causing a little stress on my shins to begin with though I think that may be down to my running style and being so used to another brand for so long. The issues were quickly solved with a little work and they are now a steady part of my marathon training routine and have a firm place on my stairs ready for a run.
I think the biggest pro for me when trying these trainers is that they are super comfortable, I LOVE the air mesh and the colour is fantastic.
The only con for me is the issues I had with my shins at the beginning, but they soon sorted themselves out. Maybe the price tag as well as I may be into my trainers but I don’t have the biggest budget. I probably wouldn’t be able to justify paying over £100 for a pair of running shoes.
Pop over to Instagram to see some video content of them in use too!
I know many do though so don’t let that deter you. Have you tried any of the 361° trainers or the brand new Sensation 3 yet? Why, why not? What would you recommend?
