I wish we would all stop taking the internet so seriously.
I’ve been avoiding certain areas within the blogging community, and I’m not sorry. I have consciously been spending time with parts of the community that are helpful, uplifting and that do actually inspire me and others on a daily basis. Those people that manage to do all of that without realising that’s what they are doing. That do it because it’s natural to them, not just forced for views and followers.
Honestly, I can not recommend enough taking that step back and just watching everyone. It’s an eye opener for sure.
Between the bitterness, the arguments, the straight dickheads and the pot stirring, parts of the community can be such a volatile place to be and unless you rise your head above it and just concentrate on the things you’re interested in, you risk being pulled into it as well.
Just do what you bloody want.
Do not be afraid of unfollowing a bunch of people if they are not of interest. Yes maybe once they were, or maybe you felt obliged to return a follow once, don’t. You can do what you want, that’s the beauty of the internet.
Amongst all of the follow/unfollow, bots and buying followers people are just getting too hung up on what everyone else is doing. I don’t agree with it but,I just don’t understand how people even have the time to pick others apart constantly or the energy in fact! You do you.
Everything looks the same now.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s content is banging, it looks great, but where is the originality?
I’m scrolling through Instagram and all the images look the same, I can no longer work out who’s posted what content based on the image alone and it’s all getting a bit same, same.
Of course, I took a step back from the social media numbers game and literally just post the stuff I want these days. Makes things so much easier, trust me.
There are the odd exceptions obviously but I feel the majority of people are editing the same way, taking the same styled out photos in front of the same places and it’s getting a little bit boring.
Taking a break.
I realised last night that I haven’t actually written anything or posted since the 5th February and do you know what, I don’t care. It’s been amazing to have the freedom to enjoy life without the fear of when I’m going to put the next load of content together.
I have a spreadsheet of ideas sitting in my folders so I’m not short of content and potential posts. I’m just not wasting away with my blog obsession when as mentioned before, it’s not a main focus of mine.
I love blogging, I really do, but I’m going to be going back to doing it for me. I’ve changed a few categories around and made a couple of little changes and I’m ready to restart my blogging journey, mostly for me. I have to admit that since the first day of January my goals have already changed quite dramatically so I’ll definitely share those with you sometime soon.
Until then, take a step back, breathe, relax, and you do you.
What do you think of blogging and the community at present?
