This is a question I find myself asking quite frequently. Today though, it’s something I’ve thought long and hard about. What’s more important? Blogging or social media? Well, honestly, for me, it’s 100% blogging.
I started my original blog Sew Emma back at the end of 2013. I was going through a bad flare up with my skin and I had developed a love of sewing so decided to blog my experiences.
In 2014 this quickly changed to a lifestyle blog, as they were the hype of the times and then eventually I started an adventure blog.
In 2017, I settled on this blog and now have a great place to share my wins, fails, highs, lows when it comes to my life, health, fitness and thoughts on controversial topics.
I love that I have a platform that I’ll be able to share in depth thoughts with. I love long conversations about the most random topics, so to have somewhere to capture that is perfect.
I’ll admit that I don’t read as many blogs as I used to. I still have those favourites that I’ll read until they post no more but I really should invest more time in others.
When it comes to social media, I pride myself on being able to sit on the fence when it comes to controversial statements, arguments and disagreements between two (or more) groups of people.
I’m a facts kind of person, so I like to research, look into and delve into the world of truth.
Today though, I take a look on Twitter and allow myself to be drawn into an argument that happened overnight. Something that was NONE of my business and that quite frankly was a pointless issue in the first place, in my opinion obviously.
So today I’m taking a little step back from the social media world and refocus all my efforts on the blog and the creativity that I miss terribly.
I’ve tweaked the website a little to make things easier, more steam-lined and less text heavy on the homepage. I’ve cut down the good old categories, merged a few and started working on a content calendar for the next three months.
I’ve been experimenting with video content and short video on Instagram and YouTube and I’m excited to continue to trial different things for my blog.
I’m also not going to spend too much time worrying about Twitter as it tends to be the place to avoid at the minute, with the falseness, the judgement and the keyboard warriors. I just don’t have time for that.
Turn your passion into creativity.
I’m excited to share some of my new ideas with you all, what’s more important to you? Blogging or social media?
