Now I’m not claiming that I can help solve those body issues that we, as humans all have. Whether it’s your legs, arms, skin, torso, there is always going to be some kinda hang up, it’s just in our genes. However, I’ve teamed up with MYA to share some tips and tricks on how to boost your body confidence in a short period of time. Or at least, what I do when I’m in need of a quick boost.
Personally, I hate my legs. I very rarely wear shorts, skirts or dresses and I have successfully managed to avoid swimming for the past 2 or 3 years through sheer fear of unleashing my pins. I’ve found that even though I have fewer body issues that there are a few things which help me feel better and less likely to hide myself away from the world. In a day and age where we still have unrealistic body expectations and increasing mental health issues it almost seems like an impossible task really.
So whether its a swimming party for your kids or you’ve booked a last minute flight to Ibiza for the summer here are a few ways that you can prepare yourself and boost that body confidence ready for the adventures to be had in the coming months.
Now I love cake as much as the next person but honestly, it pays to eat well, even for a little while. I have a terrible addiction to coffees with cream and all the sweet things. I also know that I’ll suffer an entire day with bloating if I give in to my craving and indulge. I ditch the dairy. Not all but mostly in the morning before I’ve had the chance to get moving. I’ll stick to salads and whole grains and try to keep as much colour, vibrancy and variety to keep me feeling good on the inside. I’ve included a couple of recent lunches that are ideal for the warmer weather and include all the goodness and balance too.
As a family we tend to save our evening dog walk for after dinner. Mainly because once you’ve stuffed your face you feel exhausted and full. The walk helps to burn off the calories as well as get the body moving again and helping that horrible sleepy, full feeling shift. I also tend to chuck on my trainers and go for a slow run some mornings when I’m feeling a little sluggish and need a boost. This helps get the blood pumping and after a hot shower really helps me to wake up, feel amazing and start my day on a high note. Think cardio, yoga and something fun like a zumba class to up the confidence levels.
It has to be said that self-care is being thrown about the internet and real life a hell of a lot these days. Of course this is AMAZING and it has to be said that I am all about that self-care these days. It always pays to take a step back and partake in things that make you feel good. Whether that’s taking an afternoon off and exploring somewhere new. Reading your favourite book series or treating yourself to some serious rest and relaxation. It is something that we all deserve and it just gives me such a boost afterwards.
I hope you can see where I’m going with this one. The best way to boost your body confidence is to invest time in yourself and pay attention to what your body needs. Good food, good times and enjoying yourself will perk anyone up when planning an event of some sort.
There are seven days in the week and “someday” isn’t one of them.
