Everyone deserves a day off at some point.
I don’t mean a day off where you just don’t blog or do admin but still check up on social media, schedule tweets etc..
I mean a proper day off where you stop thinking about your blog altogether.
I understand that for some people their blog/website is their life, soul and main income. That it can be hard to switch off. Hell, I find it hard to not think about it and I’m not even a full time blogger. We do however as human beings need some rest and respite. I think we could do with taking our own advice sometimes. Me included.
Last weekend I decided that I was going to stop worrying so much about planning the next weeks content. Instead just concentrating on enjoying time with my family. We are all over the place so it’s rare we get a lot of time to sit down and talk about all the things we have going on together. Lucy mentioned she had some homework to do about space I threw us in the car and suggested we pay a visit to Jodrell Bank. Mostly because I haven’t been for about 14 years and secondly as it’s literally 10 minutes away from our home.
Take that day off.
It will do you the world of good.
After taking the entire day off and only stopping to edit and post ONE photo on Instagram. I’m happy to report that it worked wonders for my little brain. As I’m suffering quite bad mentally at the moment. This little time away from the norm of computers and time spent with the small people really helped.
I’ve put together a massive list of ideas and drafts for my blog too, this means that the pressure is off a little when it comes to creating new content. At least I have a good few prompts to last me up until the new year. Although truthfully these posts are my favourite. The off the cuff ones that come to you in the evening. Those ones that you start to write in your head after you’ve switched the computer off for the day.
I love blogging and I find I love re-reading the ones I put together a little more spontaneously. Obviously, I still have the images to take that will relate to the post in question. In this case, we took a few snaps on our space school homework trip so I have a few ready for uploading.
Another little tip, batch photos are a godsend.
Enjoy your day off. You deserve it.
