So I thought it was probably about time I wrote up our day at DogFest 2018 and shared the pictures and video too. You may have already stumbled across our thoughts over on the Butty the Pug blog but here is another post anyway.
You’ll know I am a total dog crazy lady. I have two dogs of my own, a pug (Buttercup) and a rescue called Alfie. They are my little furry children and I couldn’t imagine life without them.
We were kindly invited along to an event of our choice with Butty the Pug so obviously being based in Cheshire we decided to join Team North and attend the Cholmondeley Castle festival for the day.
Hosted by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, The Supervet, DogFest is the paw-fect day out for dog lovers, providing a fun-filled, action-packed day out for you and your dog!
Expect amazing arena displays and demons, fun have-a-go activities for dogs, expert advice, shopping, music, the food and drink village and much more!
Join us for the Great Dog Walk, a charity walk around the beautiful festival grounds, taking place twice a day. Watch agility displays, doggy dancing and even take part in have-a-go sessions with your dog. Get first-hand advice from the experts with demonstrations on all aspects of your dog’s life, enjoy bespoke dog shopping area and perhaps even treat your pooch to a grooming session.
We arrived well ahead of opening to grab a decent parking space and headed over the the entrance to begin our exciting pooch filled day. Butty was being a pain in the backside today too which was a little odd. Maybe she was just overwhelmed with the amount of dogs that were there.
We entered the festival and decided to have a quick scout of the area, walking the outskirts to get our bearings and decide where we wanted to spend our time with Butty. We particularly liked the water sports section, although we were advised Butty wouldn’t be able to take part due to having a flat face. Plus apparently pugs tend to just bob around in the water so not the best idea. Personally I think Butty was relieved as she hates water anyway.
Butty was lucky enough to be invited as part of the Hound Hangout this year too. This was where the stars of Instagram all met up and held a kind of meet and greet for all those attending the event. Plus a good chance to get a snap with a few of her fellow social media friends.
I was lucky enough to meet Polly, Anuko, Snap, Ruby and Martha and loved every one of them, although once again Buttercup our little ray of sunshine was playing up and being mardy…
Here is the video that we took, which we uploaded to YouTube a few weeks ago, plus I hope you enjoy the pictures in the gallery at the top of the post.
Did you attend DogFest this year? I know the Hertfordshire event was cancelled due to the heat warnings. Good on the team for recognising the importance of the dogs when it came to the weather.
