I tend to go through phases. Some weeks I’ll sleep like a baby and wake up feeling so refreshed. Other times I’ll go through nights of insomnia. Sitting in the kitchen at 3am eating biscuits desperate to be able to just catch an hour or two. I’ve never really had the best pattern when it comes to sleeping and I’ve even reached the age where an occasional day time nap is essential to getting through the day!
Sleep is important for so many things. Memory, judgement, immune system, heart rate can all be affected if we don’t get enough and it’s a constant battle trying to find what works and how many hours sleep suits best as well.
Recently I’ve been trying to come up with the best routine for a good nights sleep. This was exciting as it allowed me to spend a little money on a few things to see if they would work. Bath bombs, lavender spray, cosy pyjamas, yes! There is nothing better then a new pair of comfy PJ’s is there!? These ones are my new favourite which you can grab in Matalan. Second only to clean bed sheets I think, don’t you?
So far this is what I have come up with so if you have anything that works for you please, please share your secrets with me!
- Reading a book
- A relaxing bath
- Mug of hot chocolate
- Lavender spray
- Social media ban
These are a few things I’ve introduced and I have to say they are helping a little. I still have the odd night where I can’t sleep. I think this is probably down to the stress we are under as a family at the moment then sleep problems and I’m hopeful that this will all be resolve once things settle down and start to resume normality.
Feel free to share what helps you get a good nights sleep!
