I’ve finally started to feel a little bit festive. It’s taken me a while this year to get into the spirit but we’re almost there. Promise. I’ve struggled with what to write about on Fitcake for a while, since I launched a new blog I’ve spent so much time focusing on that one that we’re lacking in the post department over here.
Today however, I thought I’d share some festive ideas, clothes and gift ideas that I have buzzing around in my mind and see what you guys think! Plus, with only 6 days to go and a lot of shopping still to get done I need some inspiration myself.
This is the first year we aren’t having Christmas dinner at home so naturally I won’t get away with the usual pyjamas and slippers. I’ve had a little nose and found two gorgeous dresses that are perfect for the festive period.
Another thing I love at Christmas is small accessories as gifts. Something I haven’t made an effort to wear in the past but something I continuously find myself wanting to try out something new. I’m a huge ASOS shopper so I had a flick through their store to see what pretty accessories I could find to share. The earrings above would make perfect stocking fillers.
We’ve also decided to buy gifts for our kids with a little more thought this year. Not so much cheap gifts but they are getting one main gift and a few stocking fillers. Thankfully they are getting to the age where they understand how money works. We’ve been attempting to teach them the value of money, that they have to earn it and that they don’t get things handed to them on a plate.
This is really important to me and I’m happy that they are growing into lovely kids with a firm grasp of reality. It’s especially hard these days with social media, reality television and kids they associate with that do get spoilt.
2018 has been a constant battle for us as a family. With mental health, wellness, starting a new career, ending that career and building a new blog, skincare issues, dermatology appointments, the kids changing schools and a poorly husband. I’ve learnt a lot this year. I’ve become a different person and I’m finally starting to feel like we’re coming out the other end now. As a family, we are strong. We’ve made tough decisions, choices and got a plan going in to the new year.
Our health, physically, emotionally and mentally is of the utmost importance.
Here are a few other affordable wellness gift ideas for your friends (or yourself) and of course our adorable fur babies can’t be left out at this time of year can they. Butty took part in a fun campaign with Lily’s Kitchen so I’ve shared that below.
As always I’ve included affiliate links in the post as we got to make our money somehow haven’t we. I’ve got an idea of how I’m hoping to move forward with this blog. I’m hoping it to become a little hub of lifestyle, career and places posts that can inspire others to get out and about whilst trying to build a new business from start up.
My new project The Concrete Jungle is up and live, since the beginning of December and it’s been a massive hit so far. 100 percent different from a lifestyle blog but it’s going from strength to strength and the interest and support has been amazing so I’m extremely thankful for that.
Here’s to 2019 and a bright future for everyone.
