Do you ever sit and wonder how you’re going to have enough time to get everything done? It’s a mild panic and a scribbled to do list to prioritise the important things. One of those items that appears at the top more is breakfast. I’ve been making time for breakfast each morning as I’m trying to regain control of my eating habits.
Instead of skipping breakfast and dreaming of pastries come 10am, I’m putting a little more effort into a proper breakfast so that I don’t need to be snacking in between meals.
Whether it’s a quick bowl of porridge with some added fruit and chia seeds, or a full avocado on toast deal. There are so many proven benefits to eating breakfast it’s unreal.
It’s really helping me in the snacking department which is something I usually tend to struggle with massively.
I’ve found that watching my eating habits is especially important now that I have a weight loss goal in mind. This is the first time that I’ve found myself in a position of having to think about this. As my husband has always said, one day my metabolism will slow down. It appears to have done just that.
It’s not even watching my habits, it’s breaking them or changing them to suit me better. I struggle hugely with sugar. I can’t go a day without it. That’s a nasty habit that I need to cut out and find a replacement for. I’m trying this with the chocolate chip rice cakes at the minute, which kinda help.
I’m wanting to achieve a certain goal with my fitness levels, running challenges and overall body confidence so of course, to get there, I need a routine that will work.
Breakfast is apparently the most important meal of the day. It’s something that I’ve heard since I was a child and something that has been forced upon me.
I love breakfast these days, I never used to eat it at all. Which was terrible.
Maybe it’s because I freelance at home now, but it’s so much easier to plan in time for breakfast. Especially something a little more fulfilling then just the standard bowl of cereal that I am used to. In fact, preparation still only takes 10 minutes so even getting up a couple minutes earlier wouldn’t be an issue if I still worked the 9-5 job.
Think porridge with banana, blueberries and chia seeds, just to give it something extra. I’m really loving roasted tomatoes or chopped tomatoes with seedy toasted bread and a poached egg. Even the old avocado toast has made it’s way into my kitchen on several occasions.
I love it.
They say it takes 21 days to break a habit, well it takes less to form a new one and in my opinion, proper breakfasts are a habit everyone should have.
What is your favourite thing to have for breakfast?
