A New Era of Sports Nutrition
Post written in collaboration with Project E2, this is not a sponsored post.
If you didn’t already know by the last blog post. I’ve entered the ballot to run the London marathon. Of course I am under no illusion that I may not get picked. I have a few charities that I would love to work with in exchange for a place if that’s the case.
I’ve been thinking about doing it for a number of years and although I fell into a deep hole of dread when it came to running. Lately things seem to have picked up though. I’m not sure whether it’s my mind, the weather or something in the water but I really want to get back out running.
It was around this time that I began a partnership with Project E2. They were launching their new brand and products and I was looking for some much needed motivation and something to get my teeth stuck into.
With me considering running further then I have previously and perhaps even attempting to do these runs in a decent time, they may be the ones that help me get there.
Project E2 is range of sports nutrition products aimed at high endurance specific performance. They have an extensive range and something for everyone for before, during and after endurance activities or workouts.
With the way my mind works and the struggle to get out in the open at times, I’m stuck with home workouts (rarely happens) and the gym. While I love the gym it doesn’t quite give the same feel to a run as being out in the countryside making tracks does it?
The great thing is that Project E2 has been created to be used anywhere. So it doesn’t matter if your swapping the roads for the treadmills or the bike trail for the machine. It still relevant.
You’ll know that I am so fussy when it comes to energy bars, gels and drinks. I have a few that I really like and that’s that. I was obsessed with the energy bars that were kindly sent to me as they tasted so bloody good. It almost didn’t feel like they were connected to your workout. If you know what I mean… plus they have TWO insane flavours chocolate and banana bread! I wish I’d tried the banana bread ones. It’s my favourite.
It’s always a bonus when things taste great and I really enjoyed the pre-workout formula as it was lemon and lime flavoured which is great as usually these things are summer fruits or something and it gets a bit boring. Just to add I really liked their other fruity ones too, just saying it’s a refreshing change.
The pre-workout formula was a mystery in itself to be fair. The fact that the powder was pink and once mixed with water it turned into what can only be described as pond water… it tasted great though once you got past the look of it (see below).
It also contained Carnosyn™ (A clinically studied form of Beta Alanine, designed to elongate time to fatigue and promote muscle function through its buffering mechanisms) so yay for my weak muscles.
I was impressed with the gels as well as they came in pineapple flavour which was a pleasant change from the usual orange and apple ones. I always find the apple ones tend to make me a little nauseous with the sweetness and the orange, well as great as they are, it’s a little boring. We need some variety in our lives whether we’re amateurs or athletes. (I’m definitely the first of the two).
The one thing I love most about the Project E2 brand is the ethos. The support they show others through their social media channels, the fact that they make their products for everyone, whether it’s the 30 minute treadmill guy or the 100 mile ultra lady, they respect everyone that is trying to improve their workout skills.
All in all their range has been a big help and massive motivator getting me kick started on my marathon training. I’ve got 12 months to get up to scratch and ready for a decent time (less then 4 hours ideally) so time to hit the long road and start gaining those much needed miles.
If you would like to try their new product range they have kindly given me a code for my wonderful readers/followers to get 25% off your first order, so head over to the Project E2 website and enter code: 25425 at checkout.
