I’ve always been so hit and miss with a decent skincare routine. I’ll find products that I love and use these for a while and then my routine will slip and I’ll eventually forget to use these all over again. Honestly, there is no guarantee that I’ll use these products in the long term. It’s my own fault though, nothing to do with the brand or products themselves.
I was out shopping with my daughter for her 10th birthday and popped into the local Body Shop as I have had their much coveted tea tree range recommended to me SO many times. I went in to price it up and found a gift set on offer so threw caution to the wind and purchased it there and then.
That evening I got so excited I had to sit down and work out what I’d like to try first. I am aware that as I’m approaching 30 I need to consider the products I’m using and what I want to put on my face to make sure my skin gets the full benefits.
And now is as good as time as any to put together a decent winter skincare routine. Especially as my skin dries out and I start whining about my eczema returning with a vengeance.
Remove make-up and cleanse
I’ll admit I’m terrible and 9 times out of 10 I will “forget” to take my make up off and wake up with panda eyes most mornings. Which I get it not great for my skin, but from a teenage fandom of the make up wipe and the fact that they visibly damage my skin each time I use one. I just get lazier and lazier as the years go by.
I’ve been a fan of the micellar water for some time and recently invested in a great micellar cleansing wash which I have to say I have been making an effort to use almost every night. It’s great for removing stubborn brow colour and mascara too although I have to cleanse at least twice to remove it all.
I started using the cleansing wash first as it seemed the sensible thing to do. I can not tell you how much it hurt my skin when I cleansed for the first time. I love tea tree but sometimes that sensation can be just too much.
Perseverance paid off though as I’ve been using it for around 10 days now and I’ve noticed a massive improvement when using this now. It actually feels so good on my skin, and you can almost feel the clean afterwards because my skin is so fresh and smooth.
A sensational mask?
The mask is great, because my skin has some sensitivities I tend to only leave it on for around 10 minutes and try to use it twice a week, I stick to Sundays as these are my most pampering days and a Wednesday seems good too.
I can’t really report on this massively as I’ve only used it a handful of times due to buying recently but initial impressions are good. It feels like a face mask that gets in deep and really refreshes my skin after using with the cleanser.
I have to hold my hands up and say I’ve NEVER used to a serum. Ever. I’ve thought about it, I’ve read about them, I’ve just never gotten around to purchasing one. I know, its awful and I know the importance of a good serum in the evening.
This meant when I could get one as part of this amazing set I internally squealed about it. I think it’d look odd if I did that out loud in a busy shop. Perhaps?
It comes in the most adorable little bottle with a pipette that you squeeze and just that alone got me excited. I feel like a proper grown up now and display my new range on the windowsill for everyone to see when they are visiting the bathroom.
Isn’t it crazy how such small things can cheer us right up and make a difference? Plus the serum makes my skin feel wonderful, clean, smooth, amazing. Time will tell whether this range is a keeper as I mentioned before I’ve never managed to keep that loyalty to just one brand.
Goodnight, sleep tight.
The night cream is great, I did find it a little drying at first but once it’s soaked in I top it up with my usual night time moisturising cream and that keeps the dry patches at bay.
It feels like great quality, smells fresh and soaks in really well too, which is ideal as I don’t like creams that tend to make your face greasy and uncomfortable when getting in to bed.
Have you tried the Body Shop tea tree range yet? What’s your favourite range!?
